The Ergo Carrier - making strollers extinct!

Oh man, how the Ergo has changed our lives!

Maya says: I love being snuggled up to Mama and being able to be in a sitting position.

Mama says: We've tried multiple modes of transport in Maya's 1st year of life. The first one we used was the Sleepy Wrap. We really liked it but there were a couple of problems with it. There is so much fabric that in the summer months, it was really toasty. Also, because of the amount of fabric, I would often put it on at home before needing it because I would not want to risk getting it on the ground. Otherwise, it was a great carrier for those first few months. Maya loved to sleep in it and for the most part I found it very comfortable.

Then we borrowed a friend's Ergo. That day we pushed Maya's 2 year old friend in his stroller on a walk while Maya was in the Ergo. We walked about 5 miles total and I could not believe how comfortable it was! My back was not fatigued at all and I felt like I'd gotten a good workout to boot. I love the strap in the back that connects the two shoulder straps. And the straps themselves are really comfortable.

I've just recently tried wearing Maya on my back with it for the first time. I haven't really felt the need to move her from the front for most activities it's so comfortable! However, when it comes to cooking and chopping in the kitchen with a cranky baby, the back seemed like the best bet. It definitely worked, although I still prefer the front. I may mess with strap lengths etc to see if I can enjoy the back a little more.

I'm still curious to try a Babyhawk Mei Tai Baby Carrier or a Beco but I've enjoyed the Ergo so much that I don't know that I'll spend the money on it. We now have 3 strollers that have been given to us by various people, but none have them have wooed me enough to use them. I hear I may change my tune a bit as she gets bigger, but for now all we need is the Ergo!
